About us
Insider Express follows the money behind Canadian markets. We bring five sets of public
records into one place: what company insiders buy and sell, what politicians own, who lobbies Ottawa,
who wins federal contracts and grants, and who funds the parties, all connected to the public
companies involved.

Our mission
Investing is an information game. Professional investors have analysts and data teams watching
insider trading, lobbying, government contracts and political money. Most individual investors
have never had the time or the tools to follow any of it. In Canada, these records are public, but
they are scattered across registries that take real work to find, read and connect.
Our goal is to level that playing field: to put powerful, well-sourced information at the disposal
of retail investors, so they can make stronger, better-informed decisions.
What we cover
Insider trades
Every trade that company insiders report on SEDI, the System for Electronic Disclosure by Insiders:
directors, senior officers and anyone holding more than 10% of a company’s shares. The desk shows
the latest buys, sales and option exercises with their dollar value, and the record goes back to 2015.
Each insider has a profile with their trades across every company they file for. Each company page
shows who has been buying and selling its stock, plotted on the share price, and either list can be
filtered: a company’s trades by insider, or an insider’s trades by company.
Politicians
The stocks and other assets that MPs and senators disclose to the Conflict of Interest and Ethics
Commissioner, and the holdings of provincial and territorial members in the ten jurisdictions that
publish them. Each politician’s page lists what they hold, what has appeared since their last
disclosure and what they no longer hold, and each company page shows which politicians hold it.
Canadian disclosure names an asset but not its value, so we show what is held, never how much.
Lobbying
The federal Registry of Lobbyists, kept by the Office of the Commissioner of Lobbying: who is
registered to lobby, for which clients and on which subjects, and the monthly reports of their
meetings with ministers, MPs, senators and senior officials, going back to 2008. Follow a company, an
official or a policy subject to see every meeting on record. A meeting counts once, however many
officials were in the room.
Government money
Federal contracts and grants from the Government of Canada’s proactive disclosure: who won,
which department awarded it, the value as signed and when. Every company and organization has a page
showing its awards over time, and every department has one showing where its money goes. Amendments
are folded into the original award, so a contract is never counted twice.
Political donations
Contributions reported to Elections Canada since 2015, to federal parties, candidates and riding
associations. Look up any donor to see who they gave to, when and how much, or open a party or
candidate to see who funds them. Only individuals can give, within an annual limit, and Elections
Canada names a donor once their contributions to one recipient pass $200 in a year.
How the records connect
The desks are linked by company, person and organization, so you can follow a name from one record
to the next. A company’s page brings together its insider trades, its federal contracts, its
lobbying and the politicians who hold its shares. An insider’s profile lists political donors
with the same name, and a donor’s profile lists insiders with the same name. Those matches are
labelled as name matches, because public records rarely say enough to confirm two names are the same
person.
Staying up to date
Follow any company, person or organization and we will email you when something new is filed. The
weekly Heat Sheet rounds up the Canadian companies insiders, politicians and lobbyists were most
active in.
How we work
From the source. Every figure comes from a public filing, and rows link back to the
record they came from.
Kept current. Each dataset refreshes on its own schedule, from hourly to monthly. The
Methodology page lists every source, how often we check it and what the
numbers can and cannot tell you.
Open to correction. If something doesn’t match the filing, tell us
and we’ll check it against the record.
