What Canadian Politicians Own and Trade

Search the member by name, or open the riding list. Their page shows every security on their public disclosure statement, which of those are publicly listed companies, and the date of the filing it was built from.

Members of Parliament file under the Conflict of Interest Code for Members and may own listed shares. Ministers and parliamentary secretaries are reporting public office holders under the Conflict of Interest Act and must divest controlled assets or place them in a blind trust within 120 days, so listed shares on a minister's page are usually a spouse's or held in an exempt vehicle.

Disclosures. The ethics commissioners publish a summary naming each asset — never its value, and never a timestamp. What appears here as a trade is a change between two consecutive summaries, so the date is when the change was filed, not when the security was bought or sold.

Every day. New and amended disclosure summaries are read as the commissioners publish them, and every politician's page carries the date of the filing behind it.
